Shopify AI Skin Analysis Apps Compared: Face Age vs Dermaself vs Fynd GlamAR

If you want a Shopify AI skin analysis app, three listings come up again and again when you search the App Store: Face Age, Dermaself and Fynd GlamAR. Short version: Dermaself is the cheapest way to try a selfie scan, with a free plan and ingredient-based matching. Fynd GlamAR is built for big scan volumes and starts at $250 a month. Face Age sits between them on price and puts the quiz, scan, routine, history and PDF report in one app from $59 a month.

The rest of this post is the longer answer, because the right pick depends on your catalog size, traffic and what you want a shopper to walk away with.

A quick disclosure: you're reading the Face Age blog, so weigh our section accordingly. Everything about Dermaself and GlamAR below comes from their public Shopify App Store listings and their own websites, checked on Nov 4, 2026. Plans change. Open the listing before you install.

What a Shopify AI skin analysis app actually does

All three follow the same basic flow. A shopper opens the scan on your store, takes a selfie, and the app reads visible skin concerns such as wrinkles, pores, redness or dark circles. Then it shows products from your store that match what it found.

Where they differ is everything around that core: how products get matched, how many scans you get, what the shopper can save, and how much you can change the look.

One thing that's the same everywhere: this is a cosmetic reading of a photo. For Face Age specifically, the result is labeled as Not a medical diagnosis; does not replace a dermatologist. Write your store copy the same way, whichever app you choose.

Face Age: quiz, scan and routine in one place

Face Age's listing pitches it as an AI skin analysis plus quiz builder. On the Start plan ($59 a month) you get 250 scans, 150 products mapped to concerns, the skin analysis, a skin age result, the quiz builder, theme styling and multi-language. Plus ($129) raises that to 1,000 scans and 500 products, and adds the AM/PM routine generator, analysis history, two-scan comparison, the PDF skin report and Klaviyo and Mailchimp connections. Growth ($249) and Scale ($499) mostly add volume, unlimited products and support. Full detail is on the pricing page.

The part that tends to matter in practice is product matching. You map each product to the concerns it's meant for, then set severity thresholds, AND/OR conditions and exclusions. It takes an afternoon on a mid-sized catalog. The payoff is that you decide why a serum shows up, not a black box. We wrote up how that logic works in how AI skin analysis picks products.

Returning shoppers are the other difference. With history switched on, a shopper who comes back can see earlier scans and compare two side by side, with each concern marked Improved, Regressed or Stable. That's on Plus and up.

Trade-off: if you only want a scan with no quiz and no routine, Face Age gives you more settings than you need. You can switch the quiz off, but there's still more to configure than in a single-purpose widget.

Dermaself: ingredient matching and a free plan

Dermaself is a Milan-based skin-tech company. Its Shopify app listing says it launched on Aug 26, 2026. The idea is different from rules-based matching: the shopper takes a selfie, the AI builds a skin profile, and Dermaself matches that profile against the INCI ingredient lists of your products. Each recommended product comes with a "why we picked it" note, according to their site.

Pricing on the listing is friendly for testing. The free plan includes 25 analyses a month and up to 100 products. Start is $49 a month for 60 analyses and adds the quiz builder and advanced analytics. The next tier is $129 for 200 analyses and up to 200 products. Above 200 analyses a month, Dermaself offers custom plans.

Where it fits: a small brand with a tight catalog, clean INCI data and modest traffic. If your ingredient lists are messy or incomplete, expect to tidy them first, because the matching depends on them.

Where to look harder: the analysis caps are low if you drive paid traffic to the scan. 200 a month goes quickly on a busy store, so ask about the custom plan price before you build a campaign around it.

Fynd GlamAR: high volume and extra AI features

Fynd GlamAR's Shopify app comes from Shopsense Retail Technologies. GlamAR also sells AR try-on, 3D and virtual store products, and the skin analysis app is one module in that family.

The listing describes skin analysis with 14+ concern parameters, annotated reports, a SkinGPT chatbot, a future skin simulation and an analytics dashboard. Plans are volume-based: Starter is $250 a month for 10,000 face scans and 8 concern scores, Growth is $599 for 50,000 scans and 12 scores, and Scale is $699 for 100,000 scans and all 18 scores. Growth and Scale add the Future Skin Simulator. Both list Product Recommendation as "coming soon" on the plan cards, so check whether catalog recommendations are live for you before you commit.

Setup also works differently. GlamAR's own docs say you connect a GlamAR account and generate an access key and API token from their console before you pick a plan. Their pricing page FAQ says onboarding usually takes two to four weeks, depending on modules.

Where it fits: a large store or retailer with heavy traffic that wants the simulator and chatbot features and has someone technical to run the setup.

How to choose for your store

Start with traffic. Look at last month's sessions on your product and collection pages and estimate what share might open a scan. If that's a few dozen people, Dermaself's free plan or Face Age's Start plan is plenty. If it's tens of thousands, GlamAR's allowances or Face Age's Scale plan are built for it.

Then look at your catalog data. Ingredient-based matching (Dermaself) needs complete INCI lists. Rules-based matching (Face Age) needs someone who knows the products to tag concerns. Neither is effortless, so pick the one your team can actually maintain.

Finally, think about the second visit. If you sell routines that people restock, history, comparison and a downloadable report give shoppers a reason to come back and scan again. Among these three listings, Face Age is the one that describes scan history and two-scan comparison.

My honest advice: install two on a development store, run ten scans with real faces from your team, and look at which product lists you'd be happy to show a customer. That tells you more than any comparison table.

Setting up whichever one you pick

A few things apply to all three. Place the scan where people are already deciding, not buried in a footer menu. Our post on placing a skin analyzer as a modal or section covers the theme options. Update your privacy policy to mention the AI skin analysis and how photos and results are stored. And test on a phone first, since that's where most selfies get taken.
